HARVARD-EDUCATED AUTHOR, GENDER AND TECHNOLOGY EXPERT DENISE SHORTT JOINS SEQUENTIA COMMUNICATIONS

Toronto, July 16, 2004. Sequentia Communications, a Toronto-based boutique marketing communications firm specializing in women and technology, announced today that gender and technology expert Denise Shortt, founder of Wired Woman Society (Toronto) and co-author of Technology with Curves: Women Reshaping the Digital Landscape and the award-winning Innovation Nation: Canadian Leadership from Java to Jurassic Park, will be joining the company effective immediately as Vice President.

“Our focus on developing customer communities for companies targeting women and technology consumers is strongly solidified with Denise’s presence,” said Jennifer Evans, President of Sequentia.

Shortt is a Harvard-educated writer, researcher and keynote speaker specializing in the intersection of women and technology. She is the co-author of two best-selling business books, Technology with Curves: Women Reshaping the Digital Landscape (HarperCollins, 2000) and Innovation Nation: Canadian Leadership from Java to Jurassic Park (Wiley & Sons, 2002) and contributed to From the Trenches: Strategies from Industry Leaders on the New E-conomy (Wiley 2001). A former faculty member of Ryerson University, Denise was instrumental in launching the Diversity and IT Institute in the School of Information Technology Management.

"I've spent the last 10 years synthesizing and analyzing technology-related research with a female lens and I look forward to joining the dynamic Sequentia team to help companies connect with women as users, customers and consumers," said Shortt.

Denise has also worked with several government organizations and policy makers to promote and cultivate Canada as a leader in technological innovation and is the co-founder and former President of Wired Woman Toronto, a non-profit educational and networking organization. She currently sits on national new media advisory boards for CHRC (Cultural Human Resources Council of Canada) and WIFT (Women in Film and Television).

Denise will be focusing on research and strategy in targeting women and technology consumers for Sequentia’s customer community development programs.
